"480-REQUIEM" is the latest album by rapper K-KUMA, which I illustrated the cover art for. It's an album about reminiscing on the past, a requiem for his life lived so far.
I was inspired by the idea of looking back on the past to illustrate the character Kuma in a melancholy state, surrounded by his memories represented as comic panels, being retold like a story. I took heavy influence from the visual style of "Spiderman: Across the Spiderverse" for the main illustration of Kuma himself, and the comic panels are inspired by manga art.
Overall this is one of my personal favorite music cover art commissions, as it just feels very aesthetically pleasing to me. I'm a little saddened that we never got the opportunity to design a rear cover for this project as well, but that's alright in the long run, being a digital-only release.
