Hi, my name is Alejandro Garcia, or just Alex. I'm currently 23 years old.
I'm currently a student at Full Sail University, pursuing a B.S. in Video Game Art. I'm very passionate about art, and I'd like to pursue work in the game design or graphic design industries.
While I continue my degree program at Full Sail, I take on all kinds of illustration/design commissions for the income and for the experience. Over the last few years I've gathered a diverse portfolio of interesting projects, which I hope you enjoy viewing.
In my free time, I like to relax by listening to music, playing games with close friends, or doing a bit of casual doodling. I'm a big Dungeons & Dragons player, too. Designing and playing cool characters is very fun to me.
I was born in Arizona and have lived in the western US for my entire life. Both of my parents are first-generation immigrants from Mexico, choosing to move to Arizona just a couple years before I was born. Spanish was actually my first language, but of course I've picked up way more English over the years.
I've been interested in pursuing art or game development since I was a child. Ever since I could remember, I've been enamored with video games, animation, comics, and so on. I'd see cool things, and immediately wondered if I could make those things too.
As I've gotten older, I've come to understand better why it is that I appreciate the medium so much- games are a culmination of several different art forms, providing experiences not possible anywhere else. Talented artists, programmers, musicians, and designers all work together to produce the games that we all enjoy so much, and I think that's beautiful. Games can be fun experiences to share with friends and bond over, they can be self-expressive experiences open to endless customization, and they can also elicit emotion in you with grand and beautiful stories.
Outside of just games, I generally love most art. I believe that art is part of the human experience, it's a form of expression. Music or illustrations, it doesn't matter, I love to see it, and love when people show me the art that they enjoy or make. No-matter where I go in life, my goal is to end up in some career related to art or design somehow. I feel that this is how I can bring myself fulfillment through my work and enjoy whatever I do for the rest of my life.
