Cover art for "JOYBOY" by K-KUMA
Inspired by the anime/manga series One Piece

"JOYBOY" is one of my client/friend K-KUMA's latest singles, and this is the cover artwork I produced for it. The song JOYBOY itself was written in reference to the character Luffy from the anime/manga series One Piece, so the direction we wanted to take the cover art in was clear. I went for a design crossing Kuma's original character Diego with Luffy's own powered-up appearance from One Piece. To complement the song's positivity and to mimic Luffy's own demeanor, I doubled down on the loose linework, painted look, swirling patterns, and bright colors.
